I am a comparativist and an interdisciplinary public sociologist. My research explores how societies are changing and reacting to growing work and financial socio-economic insecurity, and its effects on inequalities, in Europe and globally.

My research has been published in peer-reviewed international journals in sociology (e.g., European Sociological Review, Current Sociology), political science (e.g., Electoral Studies) and social policy (e.g., Social Policy and Administration). I have authored numerous policy papers for national and international organisations.

I am committed to communicate my research to academics, policy-makers and the general public. I have been part of the Next Left network run by the Foundation of European Studies for many years and I am Research Associate at the European Social Observatory in Brussels.

I have conducted several comparative projects (funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, the Volkswagen Foundation, the Royal Society of Edinburgh and Policy Press) on the causes of socio-economic insecurity, its effects in exacerbating inequalities and the socio-economic and cultural triggers of the populism momentum.
